Ransomware is a blend of two English words for ransom and software. Ransomware is malicious programs that can attack computers as well as tablets and smartphones. Such programs can completely block access to the content of the device (screen-locker), prevent access to files on the device and in the cloud (crypto-ransomware) or encrypt the entire disk (disk-encryptor).
