5 years of Days Gone: Open-world adventure celebrates its anniversary

Five years ago today, Bend Studio's open-world action game came onto the market. A quick look back at a beloved PS4 hit that will never get a sequel.

“Days Gone” celebrates its birthday! On April 26, 2019, the zombie action game was released exclusively for Sony's PS4.

Everything looked like a promising blockbuster title: you race on your motorcycle through an impressive, post-apocalyptic world in which tons of infected people lurk. The highlight was the huge horde battles in which you compete against hundreds of opponents at once. Both graphics, story and gameplay made a successful impression.

However, disappointment came with the release. The biker adventure came to a halt, mainly due to numerous technical problems Metascore of only 71 – far too little for an exclusive Sony production. Sony Bend was therefore forced to submit some patches and fix the many errors.

A look at the user score makes it clear that it is actually a great video game. At 8.5 points, this value is significantly higher than the press score. The majority of the ratings submitted were positive.

Bend Studio was upset because the successor was rejected

The fan base and also them supposedly high sales figures “Days Gone” didn’t convince Sony to give the green light to a successor. Because of this decision, Bend Studio was annoyedwhich is why senior developers of the game resigned.

Director John Garvin later criticized Players who don't pay full price. According to him, these people shouldn't be surprised if their favorite games don't get a sequel. At a later point in time he went against “Woke Critic” after. In addition, the protagonist's voice actor spoke up and complained superficial test reports.

At least a PC version came out in May 2021, which gave the title more reach. Like a look at the Steam-Reviews show that buyers were completely satisfied. Because of the popularity of the action adventure, committed fans finally started a petition, which was approved after three years 225,000 headings has to show. However, that didn't achieve anything.



Because the second part was not approved, Sony Bend decided to develop a new brand. We recently found out that there is probably a person behind it Live service title plugged. Unfortunately, what exactly awaits you is still unknown. Hopefully we'll find out about this at the next PlayStation Showcase, which according to a rumor could take place next month.

A film adaptation is also in the works. With that comes one Love ballad to motorcycle films towards you.
