Disappointing news for Meta Quest owners: Beat Saber update causes issues

Essential game in virtual reality, Beat Saber has been available on many platforms over the years, including the PlayStation VR 2 (on PS5 therefore) for the most recent version. It is available on Meta Quest since its launch in 2019, when the headset was still called Oculus Quest. The variations of the device have multiplied over the years, a phenomenon which will continue in partnership with other manufacturers. As gaming continues to evolve and headsets become more and more powerful, the consequence is that Beat Games will end support on Meta Quest 1. Rest assured, it will still be possible to enjoy existing content, but you will have to go for a more recent headset to discover the next new features. Yes, it hurts and the effect of planned obsolescence is much more noticeable than on consoles where certain games like Destiny 2, Fortnite Or For Honor dating from 2017 are still playable on PS4 and Xbox One, i.e. hardwares of 2013. Without a doubt, the goal is also to push towards the purchase of a Meta Quest 2 Or 3.

It is an FAQ on the game's official website which informs us about all the terms and conditions surrounding the discontinuation of headset support.

  • Why is Beat Games ending support for Quest 1 devices?

As we continue to develop Beat Saber, our goal is to raise the bar for what is possible. • Can the copy of Beat Saber in my account be transferred to another Meta headset?
