The Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has recently stumbled, is currently taking a little break. In 2024, only one film in the franchise, Deadpool & Wolverine, will be released in cinemas and only Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will most likely be released on Disney Plus.

But of course there is a lot of planning and work going on behind the scenes. Marvel is already planning the next coup for the currently ongoing Multiverse Saga: The return of Wesley Snipes as Blade.

Comeback this year?

The source for this claim is the insider, who is considered to be well-informed Daniel Richtman, who has often been right about Marvel. Marvel has not yet officially confirmed anything.

Like, among other things, the website Comic book movie reported that the deal with Marvel is already done and Snipes has agreed [im MCU] to do some things.

What are these Things? Of course, this can now be widely speculated about. It would be obvious that Wesley Snipes will appear as Blade in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is expected in 2027.

It has long been suspected that the next Avengers film will rely heavily on nostalgia to lure people to the cinema. Among others, Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man and even Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man are considered candidates for a one-off return.

So it's quite possible that 61-year-old Wesley Snipes will don the leather suit again for Avengers 6. It is questionable whether his Blade would be as brutal in the MCU as in his cult films at the end of the 90s:

But it could also be earlier: Since our analysis of the new trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, we know that there are a lot of cameos of old characters from previous films waiting for us in the upcoming Marvel film (theatrical release: July 24, 2024). So we may already meet a version of the Daywalker transported into the void by the TVA.

Wait, two blades?

In case you've been wondering this the whole time you're reading: Yes, the Blade film with Mahershala Ali (Green Book) in the lead role, which has been in the works for ages, will still be released.

How a Wesley Snipes comeback fits into this scenario? The multiverse makes it possible.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home we finally saw three Spider-Men on the big screen: Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. The concept of multiple variants of a character also played an important role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

So two blades wouldn't be impossible. The variant played by Mahershala Ali would likely be the official MCU Blade, while the vampire hunter played by Wesley Snipes would probably be a one-off to satisfy the nostalgic.

Marvel nostalgics should currently be more than happy with X-Men '97. The series is being showered with praise and even breaking critics' records, you can read all about it in the article above.

A new video game for Blade is also planned. This is being developed by the Dishonored creators Arkane and is intended to let us slip into the shoes of the Daywalker ourselves.

But there is also bad news from Marvel: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania not only disappointed numerous fans and critics, but also turned into a major financial debacle. We have also presented the reasons for this in an article that you can find above.
