Switch 2: new information on the console? – RUMOR

While Nintendo still refuses to admit the existence of its next console (but that could change soon with financial results falling next month), the Spanish site Vandal has put new information online on the one that we call for the moment the Switch2. Of course, all this remains to be taken with a grain of salt for the moment, but we note that the person reporting these new rumors seems reliable, having revealed in March 2021 very accurate information on the Nintendo Switch OLED.

The information of Rubén Mercado come from accessory manufacturers who might have seen the console. Finally, perceive is a big word: Nintendo would have allowed them to touch it through an opaque box so they could get a first look at the dimensions and design while avoiding leaks.

This still allows us to learn two things: rather unsurprisingly, the Switch2 would be larger than the current consolewhile remaining smaller than the Steam Deck (phew, some will say, although Valve's machine offers very good handling). The other difference in form factor would reside at the level of Joy-Con : the console would remain hybrid, but the Joy-Con would now be attached to it by a system of magnets.

It is impossible to know, however, whether the magnets complement or replace the current rail, but Yoshiaki Koizumiproducer of the Switchhad revealed in an interview in 2021 that the magnets had been the team's first line of thought for attaching the controllers to the console: perhaps Nintendo has since been able to arrive at a reliable solution? Regardless, this would seem to indicate that the Joy-Con current would no longer be compatible with the Switch2 in portable mode. According to information on the site, the current Pro Controller should be able to be used on the next console.

Finally, the last information shared by Vandal lies in the release date: according to the site, the console would already be ready to be put into production, but Nintendo would have decided to postpone the release by a few months in order to have a more solid catalog of games available at the time of sale. As many other rumors already suggest, we will probably have to wait early 2025 to be able to acquire the coveted Switch 2.
