Money makes the world go round. This applies both today and in our medieval villages in Manor Lords. In addition to expanding their settlement, many players are interested in earning money in the development game.

Also Reddit users Maelarion wanted to earn some extra money by breeding sheep and selling some of the woolly four-legged friends. But that went quickly and terribly wrong.

It's a sheep apocalypse

Since Manor Lords has just been released in early access, not all features work as planned. Bugs and balancing problems can also occur. Maelarion, the other lords and ladies, also felt this laments his suffering on Reddit:

Help, I'm being overrun by sheep. […] I have sold so many that there is an oversupply and no one wants to trade anymore. […]

I bought enough sheep to fill all the fallow fields and wanted to trade the excess. But they multiply uncontrollably. It's a sheep apocalypse. My garrison hides behind the walls as the flood of wool threatens to overwhelm the palisade.

How could that happen?

The perk is primarily responsible for the sheep army Sheep farming, which your sheep sometimes use to reproduce. With an already large herd, reproduction can happen very quickly. At some point more new sheep will be born than can even be sold.

In addition to various sheep jokes, there is also a request for change in the comments. Write something like this palmerin jokingly:

Too bad they're protected by law and not even the hungriest villager would think of eating one.

This is of course alluding to the fact that sheep cannot yet be slaughtered and used as food, although that would be a practical solution when there is such an abundance. Another, less serious suggestion was made TOXO7:

Just let the excess run away. With a bit of luck they will overrun the Baron and you will win by yourself.

Other players, on the other hand, are probably already ready to found a religion:

More sheep for the sheep throne!

Someone must have played too much Cult of the Lamb.

What to do about the sheep apocalypse?

We asked our Manor Lords expert Elena how you can protect yourself from an uncontrolled growing flock of sheep. She has the following tips for you:

  • It's best not to take the Sheep Breeding perk at first – especially if you're buying a large number of sheep.
  • Sell your sheep through the livestock trading post and set a fixed number so that your flock always remains the same size.
  • If your herd continues to grow, you can hire more workers at your livestock trading post, establish new paths and build oxen tethering points. So trade should speed up.
