Resident Evil 2/3/4 and Monster Hunter World Break Sales Records

Capcom was also able to impress with its latest quarterly figures. The publisher’s key brands are selling well, including “Monster Hunter World” and the remake of “Resident Evil 4.”

Capcom has published updated sales figures for its most important games in its latest annual report for the past quarter. The “Resident Evil” series in particular is an important mainstay for the publisher.

The remake of “Resident Evil 4”, released in March 2023, has sold 6.48 million copies. And the remakes of the predecessors continue to sell well.

Resident Evil and Monster Hunter series on the road to success

According to Capcom’s updated platinum title list, the pimped-up “Resident Evil 2” has found a total of 13.6 million buyers since its release in 2019.

The remake of “Resident Evil 3”, released in April 2020, sold 8.4 million copies over virtual and real store counters. The previous sales record was 8.04 million copies, achieved in October 2023.

The total number of “Resident Evil” games sold climbed from 150 million to 154 million copies, meaning an additional four million games in the hit series were sold in the three months ending December 31, 2023.

The “Monster Hunter” series is also a strong driving force for Capcom. This includes “Monster Hunter World,” which sold 19.6 million copies – an increase of 500,000 copies compared to the previous quarter. Including sales of “Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition,” the number is 24.1 million.

“Monster Hunter World: Iceborne” alone climbed from 10.7 million to 11.6 million units sold. “Monster Hunter Rise” has sold 14.2 million copies. The “Sunbreak” expansion has 7.1 million sales.

“Monster Hunter World” continues to be Capcom’s most successful title. Following the announcement of Monster Hunter Wilds, the return to the World campaign, and massive discounts, the game recently reached its highest concurrent player count in three years on Steam.
