Exciting News for Kingdom Hearts Fans: A Movie in the Works by Disney! Evidence Points to an Upcoming Film.

An announcement that touches the heart

It was just a few days ago that insider @DanielRPK shared an article on his Patreon, reporting that an adaptation of the Kingdom Hearts license was on the way at Disney. Although he cannot yet specify whether it is a series or feature film project, Rumors have already been going strong since 2020.

Indeed, for the Vulcan Reporter, journalist Emre Kaya had hinted that a Kingdom Hearts series was planned for Disney+ and was already in development. In fact, the company even asked Square Enix to produce a pilot using the latest version of Unreal Engine. Said series was animated in CGI and had already launched castings, without letting any additional information slip. Some people in the community therefore predict that today it is the same project which has continued to be reworked and refined ever since.

With a strong heart

On different forums, users suggest that this series project could be what Tetsuya Nomura was referring to when he said that the direction of Kingdom Hearts had been modified. These statements took place during a performance of the Philharmonic concert of Kingdom Hearts: Second Breath highlighting the different musical themes of the saga. The producer of the series appeared on stage at the end of the showconfiding to Yoko Shimomura – composer for the series – that on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the game series, “something had happened, determining the direction of the entire license”.

Spectators report that the composer had asked Nomura to say more but that the latter would have confided explaining to her once backstage, leaving all the fans waiting. Since the sequence was not filmed, it is difficult to say anything based solely on written feedback, but the latter describe the producer as rather happy during the announcement. If all this remains very vague, there is no doubt that the next opus of the saga, Kingdom Hearts 4, is in development, and that it will offer a whole new story after the end of “The Saga of the Seeker of Darkness”.
