More on this below. Supported platforms include PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles as well as PC. The development of “Assassin's Creed Shadows” is being led by Ubisoft Québec.

The title sends players to 16th century Japan. They encounter a country that is on “a brutal course toward unification.” At the same time, unrest grows as new coalitions emerge and corrupt foreign influences penetrate the country.

In “Assassin's Creed Shadows,” players experience the interconnected stories of Naoe, a skilled shinobi assassin from Iga Province, and Yasuke, a powerful legendary samurai based on a template from Japanese history. Other important historical figures are also expected to make an appearance in the adventure.

Two different play styles possible

In “Assasin's Creed Shadows” players have the opportunity to master two different play styles in the roles of Naoe and Yasuke. Both have their own progression path, individual skills, weapon options and stats.

According to Ubisoft, Naoe, for example, offers a sophisticated infiltration mechanic that uses light, sounds, shadows and changeable environments to hide from enemies. As Yasuke, on the other hand, you can take out larger enemy troops.

“Assassin's Creed Shadows” allows you to explore a large open world with different landscapes that change depending on the weather and season. The Anvil engine serves as the basis.

There is also a new exploration mechanic that allows players to create their own spy network to explore new territories and pursue new goals. The aim is to recruit allies with specialized skills and talents. They support the missions.
