Games can be a welcome distraction from everyday life, especially in difficult times and together with others.

It was exactly this form of distraction that was missing from a Reddit user who recently had to go through a lot since his PlayStation 4 broke.

But luckily he has very good friends who surprised him with an unexpected gift.

What is the core of this story? How people can move us to tears by showing us in their own way that they are there for us.

That's exactly how it is for the creator of the Reddit post gone to this case, as his following words make clear:

I literally cried on my porch and I'm about to turn 30 years old.

We could feel this emotion while reading his story and that's why we share it with you.

The following video shows that games themselves can trigger great emotions in us:

What stressful times does the player go through?

As is sometimes the case in life, several points come together for the Reddit user that don't make things easy for him.

  • His mother died in January. Since then, he and his fiancée have been looking after his younger brother, who is 17 years old.
  • His wife is five months pregnant and the pregnancy is not going smoothly. She therefore had to stop working early.
  • They also already have a daughter who is five years old and still goes to preschool.

Many challenges at once, which ensure that there is neither much time nor much money left at the end of the day.

How have games helped him? To distract himself and clear his head, the Reddit user regularly played the long-running hit Rocket League with his friends on the PlayStation 4. The title is available on both PC and PlayStation.

But then his console broke, with clearly noticeable consequences for him:

Not being able to play with them anymore was very frustrating. Apparently a PC hasn't been in the budget for a while, so lately I've just been going on Discord to chat.

His friends apparently also noticed this frustration, and they quickly pooled together to buy him a new gaming PC.

Why a PC and not a console? His friends are probably more PC-savvy, but they know that the Reddit user isn't averse to PC gaming either. Playing Rocket League together was already possible because the title supports crossplay.

Discord can also be used across platforms on PC and PlayStation:

A new computer as a pleasant surprise

His friends didn't just hand over the new PC.

Instead, one of them pretended that he himself needed someone to talk to after a bad day. The Reddit user then invited him to his home.

A supposed phone call later, he was suddenly called outside to help bring in a package.

In addition to the PC with the hardware listed below, there was also a monitor and the necessary peripherals.

This is what is in the gaming PC that you see in the picture below:

  • Graphic card: Geforce RTX 4060
  • Processor: Core i7 14700F
  • R.A.M: DDR5 (no quantity specified)
  • Storage: 1,000 GB

The new PC doesn't have much space yet, as four people (and soon five) have to share a 74m² apartment with two bedrooms. But at least the move into a house is coming up very soon. (Image: reddit.com - fingeritoutdude)

The processor and graphics card alone are worth around 700 euros.

In this case, however, the monetary value is only marginally important, as the final words of the Reddit user show:

I just wanted to publicly thank them and shine a spotlight on some really great friends. You have no idea what this means to me.

Since the PC uses very up-to-date components, it should help him and his friends switch off from everyday life for a long time to come.
