Why Nightingale’s Promising Start Led to an Average Steam Rating – and What it has in Common with Helldivers 2

Game news

Despite its very good start, Nightingale has an average rating on Steam for the same reason as Helldivers 2

A good start for Nightingale!

If you like survival games that focus on community, cooperation and exploration, you should have something to play at the start of 2024! After the sensational arrival of Palworld and the highly anticipated arrival of Enshrouded, it’s the turn of Nightingale to stand out from the crowd. With its open world and artistic direction very inspired by a mixture of the Victorian era and Fantasy, it must be said that the game developed by Inflexion Games had enough to attract people. Two days after the game’s release on Steam, it’s already time to see how it was received, and suffice to say that the news is pretty good.

Indeed, Nightingale has so far reached a number of simultaneous players of 47,481, which is very respectable for a game of this scale.. Of course, when we compare it to the juggernaut that Palworld was in January and the huge surprise that Helldivers has been in recent weeks, this figure seems small. But it should be remembered that it is ultimately quite close to the current number of Enshrouded players, which is not really a small achievement. We imagine that the coming weekend will be decisive in knowing whether the number of players increases, but the game is already off to a very good start. Unfortunately, he also faces a problem that could taint his success.

An average rating for a problem that we are starting to understand

The advantage with games released on the Steam platform is that it is quickly possible to find out the overall opinion of the players. As we write these lines, Inflexion Games’ game pales in comparison with an “average” evaluation which peaks at 56% for 4,500 different opinions. However, reading the reviews, some are quite convinced that the game is good. But then, what could be wrong with getting such a rating?

I really like this game A LOT so far, but I’m giving it a negative rating for one big problem. Having to always be online, even when playing alone, makes no sense. There’s no reason for a game like this to require constant connection. And of course the servers are on fire right now.

A crafting and survival game absolutely doesn’t need constant connection. Once again we are all at the mercy of server stability and unable to pause the game… Brilliant.

Despite its very good start, Nightingale has an average rating on Steam for the same reason as Helldivers 2

You will have understood, the Nightingale servers are not at the top of their form at the moment, which prevents many players from enjoying their new game, even if they want to play alone. A problem that is becoming more and more recurring and that Helldivers II players are well aware of since it has been almost impossible to play the game in the evenings and weekends since its release. We hope that, like those of Helldivers II, the developers of Nightingale will be responsive enough to try to satisfy their players.
