Ubisoft Faces Backlash for Star Wars Outlaws Game Release

Star Wars Outlaws may not be the last, but it is still a great hope for Star Wars fans. The action-adventure is due to be released in a few months, but many players now definitely don't want to get it straight away when it's released.

Star Wars Outlaws: Please pay extra if you want to play all quests

Money makes the world go round, and lately that's especially true with new video game blockbusters. Keep appearing Single player games with additional paid contentsuch as the recently released Dragon's Dogma 2.

Now it's time for the next hype single player: Star Wars Outlaws doesn't just get one Season Passwhich is already questionable, but also hides a whole Quest behind a pay wall. Do you want to play the entire game, with all content? Then you have to spend more money than “just” the 70 euros for the release.

You can check out the various pre-order editions for Star Wars Outlaws on the official Ubisoft homepage. In addition to the standard version, there are two other editions as well as the option to subscribe to Ubisoft+ and thus get “free” access to the Ultimate Edition. In addition to additional cosmetic content, which no one has anything against, they offer Gold (109.99 euros) as well as the Ultimate Edition (129.99 euros) also the season pass. And there's one hiding in there exclusive Jabba the Hutt missionwhich you only get with an additional 40 euros to 60 euros (source: Ubisoft Store).

Fans are upset, to say the least.

If you only get the whole game for twice the price

When Outlaws was announced about a year ago, it blew everyone away with a really cool looking demo and video that intrigued people and showed quite a bit of potential. And now they're back, showing pretty mediocre trailers and trying everything to shoot themselves in both feet with a shotgun. (Source: Eruannster on Reddit)

Hey, that's a great way to kill all my enthusiasm for the game! Maybe I'll grab the Game of the Year edition, i.e. the complete game. I'll get it in four years when it's only $12. (Source: PoconoBobobobo on Reddit)

Is anyone else hyped to buy the game in a year when the Ultimate Edition is only $20? (Source: WispyDan14 on Reddit).

If you really want to pre-order Star Wars Outlaws, we recommend the standard version on Amazon – it costs 79.99 euros, but still has some nice additional content:

As mentioned above, you pay a whopping 129.99 euros for the Ultimate Edition – exactly twice the price of the standard edition. In return you get early access to the base game, the Jabba quest, several packs with cosmetic content, a digital art book and the two planned DLCs that are scheduled to appear at some point. Without the expensive season pass you have to forego this quest of any kind.

Ubisoft's tactics are obvious: With game content, the developer wants to attract those fans to the expensive editions who would like the entire game and not a stripped-down version. Who knows what's in store for us in the future: the first half of the game at the regular price and the second half for 120 euros?

Star Wars Outlaws will officially be released on August 30, 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
