The developer released sales figures last February referred to 1.3 million copies sold. The break-even point initially remained unattainable. And the situation has apparently not changed with further sales.

A large portion of the development and marketing costs were recouped

According to Remedy, sales of “Alan Wake 2” continued at a high average price, but the major hurdle was still not overcome: “By the end of the first quarter, the game had recouped a large portion of the development and marketing costs,” it says in latest annual report.

However, the story of “Alan Wake 2” is far from over. During the first quarter, the team “focused on working on the downloadable content that will expand Alan Wake 2,” the statement said. There will therefore be a new surge in popularity soon.

Less popular was Remedy Entertainment's decision to release “Alan Wake 2” exclusively as a digital version. This alienated players who continue to rely on discs. Walk-in customers and mail order businesses were also left out. However, it is uncertain whether a disc release would have resulted in significantly higher sales figures.
