The next Sonic movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 3appears to draw its main inspiration from the iconic video game Sonic Adventure 2, as the hedgehog's English voice actor, Ben Schwartz, revealed during a recent interview with Screen Rant. Although plot details remain under wraps, the actor confirmed that this title would strongly influence the characters and the plot of the film. He even pointed out the parallels between the logo of the 2001 game and that of the feature film, indicating that production aimed to make it the largest part of the trilogy.

Production of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was affected by delays due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. However, filming was finally completed in March 2024, allowing a release scheduled for December 20 in cinemas.
