Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has just been revealed – and of course all sorts of tidbits of information are now trickling through the room. Well, especially with us, because we not only brought a big cover story about Kingdom Come 2 for you from Prague, but we also had Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, Global PR Manager and press spokesman for the development studio Warhorse, in our stream yesterday.

And of course we took full advantage of the opportunity to shake all sorts of secrets out of Tobi's ribs – by the way, you'll find the entire talk recorded here in a few days. But first, some exciting information:

The memory snap from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 returns.

Some people will almost audibly roll their eyes at this point, because the memory booze has always been one of Warhorse's more controversial design decisions. Tobi Stolz-Zwilling also says in the talk: No mod for KCD1 has been downloaded as often as the one for free storage.

For context: In Kingdom Come 1 you can only save freely if you consume such a storage liquor. This obviously makes Heinrich a bit tipsy, but even worse: the stuff was quite difficult to get hold of, especially at the beginning of the game, when every thief can easily pluck you out of your life.

Alternatively, you could travel to a rest stop to save there for the night. Also quite inconvenient if you just want to save quickly before an upcoming skirmish. Warhorse patched the ability to auto save when leaving the game, but didn't change the basic system.

How does memory snap work in Kingdom Come 2?

In Kingdom Come 2, the so-called rescue schnapps works as ever: If you want to save, you have to drink. But Warhorse still wants to respond to the players' complaints. Said schnapps should now be much easier to find, buy and brew than in its predecessor.

Tobi Stolz-Zwilling confirmed it to us in the talk: Warhorse is looking for a balance here. On the one hand, it is a conscious decision to charge people a small fee for freely saving so that they don't have to constantly protect themselves and sometimes have to live with wrong or tricky decisions.

On the other hand, Warhorse wants to make Kingdom Come 2 more accessible and eliminate awkward corners and edges – and the low availability of the savior liquor is one of them. We cannot currently assess whether the revised balance will ultimately ensure smoother saving. But Warhorse is known for responding to such feedback in patches, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
