The Acolyte takes place in an era we haven't seen before in a live-action series in the Star Wars universe: the High Republic. About 100 years before the events of Episode 1, there were many more Jedi patrolling the galaxy before the order's downfall slowly but surely loomed in the prequels.

The Jedi of the High Republic will also be put to a tough test: The Acolyte revolves around a mysterious assassin who hunts Jedi Knights. This is where the master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) and his padawan Jecki Lon (Dafne Keen) come into play.

Star Wars fans were already discussing whether the first trailer for The Acolyte teased the appearance of a Sith. But one thing is certain: In the new series, lightsabers are crossed. And those responsible behind The Acolyte have really planned something for this.

The Acolyte wants to surpass the Duel of the Fates

Because Dafne Keen (Logan) reveals in an interview Entertainment Weeklythat the aim for the new Star Wars series was to at least reach the level of the legendary lightsaber fight from Episode 1 – or even exceed it.

This is of course the duel of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi versus Darth Maul meant the unforgettable piece of music by John Williams Duel of the Fates is accompanied. For many fans, one of the best, if not the best lightsaber fight in the prequel trilogy.

We talked about that a lot. It was pretty much about topping the fight against Darth Maul – in my opinion the most groundbreaking duel in the entire Star Wars saga. This fight was so great and we were all really looking forward to our lightsaber fights. A lot of sweat and skill went into making this feel like the original Star Wars and it's absolutely impressive to see as a viewer.
