Phoenix Games buys PopReach Games

The Karlsruhe games marketer and optimizer Phoenix Games is taking over the games studio PopReach Games India.

Substantial acquisition for the team of games investor Klaas Kersting: Phoenix Games is expanding its market position in the mobile and social games segment. The takeover of PopReach Games based in Bengaluru, India, is expanding the company's own portfolio to include successful brands and free2play games such as Smurf's Village (The Smurf Village), Smurf's Magic Match, Gardens of Time, Kitchen Scramble, Kingdoms of Camelot and War of Nations.

The purchase price of up to $9.8 million (approx. €9.15 million) also includes more than 100 developers and experts from PopReach Games, which the Karlsruhe-based company can now rely on. The seller is the Canadian marketing technology company Ionik Group.

Phoenix Games includes, among others, Upright Games, Sixteen Tons Entertainment (Emergency), Well Played Games, Smileygamer and Sad Panda Studios.
