Today Apple officially introduced its new versions of the iPad Pro and iPad Air. In addition to performance upgrades, the display on both models has been enlarged.

With the Pro version, Apple is now also relying on a »Tandem OLED“Technology in which the display consists of two OLED screens one on top of the other. At the same time, the model became even flatter.

The front camera has been moved from the top to the side to enable Facetime calls in landscape format.

Prices: Prices for the new iPad Pro start at 1,199 euros and the iPad Air at 699 euros. If you want the largest display and maximum storage space, you have to prepare 3,139 euros for the Pro model. The most expensive Air model costs 1,749 euros.

What innovations do the new iPad Pro and iPad Air offer?

Apple is installing an OLED display, in its own tandem OLED style, in its iPad Pro for the first time. In terms of hardware, they promise an even better contrast ratio, as well as stronger, bright colors and color fastness, especially in the black area.

The still strong M1 and M2 processors have been replaced by the next generation of processors, or even the next generation in the case of the Pro, depending on the model. The iPad Pro's M4 processor also offers ray tracing via hardware acceleration and the power required to power the new Ultra Retina XDR display.

The front camera moves from vertical to horizontal positioning. This should please many Apple fans who also like to use their iPad in landscape format to make phone calls.

Not only has the display of the iPad Air increased, the maximum storage capacity of the two models has also increased to 1TB for the iPad Air and 2 TB for the iPad Pro. Likewise, the minimum storage capacity for the Air model now starts at 128 GB and the smallest Pro model already offers 256 GB.

Of course, the latest generation of iPads also offers compatibility with the latest Apple peripherals. The improved new “Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro” is available for the Apple Pencil 3 and the Pro model.

While the new Apple Pencil 3 also provides haptic feedback and additional control options by turning, the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro offers a better trackpad and new function keys.

The entry-level prices of the new iPads are based on the previous models. Unfortunately, Apple reserves some new features, such as the new nano-texture glass, for the higher-priced models with larger memory.

If you want the maximum storage space, you pay twice as much or, in the Pro case, almost three times as much as the cheapest model.
