Some players disappointed with Cities Skylines 2 are receiving refunds

After the great success of Cities Skylines, the criticism of Cities Skylines 2 came as a surprise. Not only is the base game under heavy attack, the released DLC isn't doing much better either. Publisher Paradox Interactive is now a little more accommodating to PC gamers.

Cities Skylines 2: money back or gifts

After Cities Skylines was released in October 2023 with numerous problems, it was already announced that the first DLC would be delayed. This is to ensure quality. Beach Properties was released in March 2024 and now offers players new locations, new types of houses and more.

However, this product is not well received by players. Beach Properties is on Steam rated predominantly negatively (watch now on Steam), with many criticizing both the quality and quantity of content, like Steam user デンジ Levitax:

Apparently the new method is to release sequels in a barely playable, unfinished state and make everyone suffer.

Publisher Paradox Interactive is now intervening and announcing on the official blog that the cost of the DLC of 9.99 euros will be refunded. People would be aware that the expansion had been rushed out and released in an unacceptable state. However, buyers who purchased the DLC as part of the Ultimate Edition of the game will not receive a refund. Instead, you will be offered in-game compensation in the form of three Creator Packs as well as three radio stations – worth a total of $39.99 – at no additional cost (source: Paradox Interactive).

Cities Skylines 2 postponed for consoles

Originally announced for spring 2024, the game will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S moved into the distance. Mariina Hallikainen, CEO of Paradox Interactive, said they would not make any further promises about the release period if they could not keep them. And further:

We have struggled to get Cities Skylines 2 to the necessary level of optimization for a console release, but we are now hopeful that an upcoming build shipment in April will show sufficient progress to allow us to move forward with a release candidate and then one scheduled for October Release build can continue.
