PlayStation Showcase: Leak brings new edition into the game next week

A rather unexpected source may have now revealed that there could be a new PlayStation Showcase as early as next week. In this case, an official announcement from Sony shouldn't be too long in coming.

Will there be any fresh information about upcoming games for the PlayStation 5 soon? A possible leak now brings a new edition of a PlayStation Showcase into play, which could take place as early as next week.

The new speculations have their origins in the popular podcaster DJ Akademiks. He temporarily had an Instagram post online, which has since been deleted but was captured by leaker Radec. The post in question stated that artist Kendrick Lamar would not be able to release his new track – the next chapter in his feud with rapper Drake – until next week. According to the information, a new PlayStation Showcase from Sony is supposed to take place there and the restriction regarding the release of the track is a marketing deal that the artist has concluded with Sony in the context of the showcase.

In this respect, the source for such a leak in the gaming sector is completely unusual for a change, but DJ Akademiks has an important name in the music industry. The fact that the post on Instagram has since been deleted could possibly be due to a tip from Sony, as there has been no official announcement yet.

A May edition of the PlayStation Showcase would be nothing new, as one already took place last year. If the rumors about a fresh edition come true next week, then it would take place a little earlier in 2024. The PlayStation Showcase 2023 in May only took place on May 24, 2024.

Possible content for such a transfer could be more well-known upcoming titles such as the remake of Silent Hill 2 or Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. We will of course keep you updated on further developments.
