“Helldivers 2” has caused quite a stir in the last few days, especially on the PC.

After “Helldivers 2” initially became one the surprise hits of 2024, Sony Interactive Entertainment and the developers of Arrowhead almost tripped themselves up in the last few days.

The announcement that the link between a Steam and a PSN account, which was initially suspended for technical reasons, would be mandatory, not only caused a stir plenty of criticism. Furthermore, it came to a review bombing and even Boycott calls. A development that led to those responsible rowing back and now focusing on the link in question will forego.

Since the community apologizes from the developers accepted, Arrowhead is now returning to normal. As the studio announced, the next update is now available. This raises “Helldivers 2” to version 1,000,302 and includes various bug fixes in addition to minor balancing adjustments.

As usual, the official changelog provides you with all the details.

The update 1,000,302 at a glance

Balancing

R-9 Eruptor:

  • Increased explosion damage by 40 and removed shrapnel from the explosion.
  • This is to avoid players randomly one-shotting themselves or their team members within a large radius of the explosion.

Enemies:

  • Slightly increased visibility and hearing range of the screamers.
  • Slightly increased gunboat hearing range.

Bug fixes

Gameplay:

  • We fixed issues with applying damage over time effects. This should resolve issues where only the owner of the network session could apply them and other cases where they were applied inconsistently.
  • Firing the Punisher Plasma while wearing a Shield Backpack no longer damages the Helldiver.
  • Fixed issues with some weapon zooms not aligning in first person.
  • The tuning sound no longer plays while interrupted.
  • Main Quests with the Kill Task now correctly track score. Previously, it counted the entire team's kills once for each player, meaning the score was multiplied by the number of people on the mission; this has now changed.
  • Helldivers can no longer land on high rocks in Horde Defense Missions.
  • Helldivers can no longer land on bow pillars in the “Deactivate Terminid Control System” missions.
  • Fix for reinforcement stratagem not present when a Helldiver left the session before he was ready and then joined the active session.

Crashes:

  • Fixed a crash that could occur if all players were dead on the “Deactivate Terminid Control System” mission.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when shutting down the game.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when exiting the mission and re-entering.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur at the end of cutscenes.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when diving into missions.
  • Fixed a tutorial crash that could occur when alt+tabping on PC.
  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur when using beam weapons.
  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur when starting the game while using a VPN for players.
  • Fixed a softlock that could occur if the player opened text chat while the Stratagems menu was open.
  • Other general crash fixes.

Social menu fixes:

  • PC players who add friends using friend codes will no longer appear as Unknown.
  • Overlapping footers in menus have been fixed.
  • Steam friends should now be visible in the social menu even if the friends list is not set to public in the Steam privacy settings.
  • The list of recently played players will now also include players who joined during the game.
  • Players can now unblock players who were not previously in their friends list.
  • Fixed issue with empty friend names in the Social menu.
  • Lobby privacy mode text updates occur immediately upon changes.
  • Player names longer than 26 characters should now update correctly in the Social menu.
  • Fixed an issue where non-host players could arbitrarily exclude others, including the host.

Miscellaneous:

  • The total purchases counter on the right side of the Robotics Workshop section no longer shows 7 / 8 even though all stratagems have been purchased.
  • Resolved some edge cases related to Steam App ID login errors.
