Exciting News for Anime and Fighting Fans: New Crossover Coming to Netflix this Summer!

The battle of the titans

It was this Sunday that Netflix broadcast the official crossover trailer Baki Hanma vs Kengan Ashurarevealing at the same time that this would be available from June 6. The announcement of the project, on March 23, had already launched the power debates between the two protagonists of each universe, but this trailer presents certain secondary characters from the two works who will be brought into conflictnamely Yoroizuka Saw Paing and Kure Raian against Kaoru Hanayama and Jack Hanma, belonging to the universe of Kengan Ashura and Baki the Grappler respectively.

Labeled a “Netflix film”, the feature film is the result of the collaboration announced during the Netflix panel at AnimeJapan 2024. For the occasion, the project sees the return of the two respective voices of the characters, Nobunaga Shimazaki (Baki Hanma) and Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Tokita Ohma). The film will be directed by Toshiki Hirano (Devilman Lady, Fist of the North Star: Legend of Kenshiro), the same one who had already taken care of Baki and Baki Hanma, in the company of Atsuo Ishino (Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! -Rising, Baki Hanma) which will manage the script.

Two colossi

Regarding Baki Hanma and Tokita Ohma, the fight is likely to be bloody. The first is the son of Yujiro Hanma, “the strongest creature in the world”, nicknamed the Ogre because of his back muscles so developed that they mimic a demonic face. As his worthy heir, Baki, at just 15 years old, became the champion of the Tokyo Dome underground arena and became “the strongest boy in the world”. He has eclipsed his enemies, each more powerful than the other, to the point of becoming worthy of going up against his own father who finally considers him an adversary worthy of his stature.

Opposite, Tokita Ohma known as “Ashura”, keeps all the “Kengan” fighters in check, modern gladiator fights in the pay of various Japanese companies. Heir to the martial art of Niko Style, he mercilessly crushes anyone who gets in his way, even to the point where he becomes the very face of the Kengan association. Although he plays the role of the outsider in the eyes of Internet users, the meeting of these two combat monsters risks shaking the world. The other fighters should not be underestimated either since they managed to put our two protagonists in difficulty. To find out who, the son of the Ogre or the former champion of the Yamashita Trading Co., will submit the other, the film will be available from June 6 on Netflix.
