Explosive success

Denis Villeneuve made a strong impression with his two Dune films. After a first episode released in 2021 which impressed the press and spectators alike and which achieved good figures despite the context of the health crisis at the time, a new opus has obviously seen the light of day. So, a few weeks ago, the whole world was able to find Timothée Chalamet in a spectacular story of revolt which scored a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The second film achieved a small feat. It managed to surpass the original episode with more than $685 million in revenue worldwide, for a comfortable budget estimated at $190 million. The direction by Denis Villeneuve, the universe of Frank Herbert and the performances of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya therefore hit the mark with the public. As for the big names in Hollywood, James Cameron and Steven Spielberg praised the talents of Denis Villeneuve. After such a plebiscite, the director will have to make the right choices so as not to disappoint his fans.

Fallout, but in real life

Variety tells us that Denis Villeneuve may have found his next project. The filmmaker is in fact in discussions with Legendary for an adaptation of “Nuclear War: A Scenario” by Annie Jacobsen (Pulitzer Prize finalist journalist). Still according to the site, Legendary has acquired the exploitation rights to Jacobsen's book, and Villeneuve is currently in negotiations with the studio for the production, adaptation and/or direction of the work. Tanya Lapointe would also be part of the project. For information, the book Nuclear War: A Scenario focuses on what would happen in the event of a nuclear war. Annie Jacobsen used her interviews with military and civilian experts to concoct what could be the most plausible scenario in a world where atomic war is taking place.
