According to some fans, Emperor Palpatine was never the big villain of the Star Wars saga that everyone thinks he is. No, according to a persistent (and slightly absurd) theory, it was Jar Jar Binks from beginning to end, the mastermind who orchestrated the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire from the shadows.

You don't believe me? Then just take a look into Jar Jar's Sith yellow eyes! In fact, in the official canon it is from the clumsy Gungan not a follower of the dark side, but a clown become. After Episode 3, Jar Jar is living a pretty sad life on the streets of Naboo.

But Darth Jar Jar is actually celebrating a comeback and even as part of an official Star Wars series! With Rebuild the Galaxy, a new Lego special has been unveiled for Disney Plus, which, like previous short films and mini-series, comes with a good pinch of creativity and self-irony.

For example, the first trailer shows AT-AT walkers from the Rebel Alliance or a dark version of Han Solo's Millennium Falcon. And even Jedi Bob makes its debut in an official Star Wars series written by Disney. And then of course there is Darth Jar Jar's appearance, which features a menacing(?) MEESA GOING TO HURT YOUSA! announces:

And yes, actually borrows Ahmed Best Darth Jar Jar is the voice of Darth Jar Jar, who played the clumsy Gungan in George Lucas's prequel trilogy and returned years later in the role of Jedi Master Kelleran Beq. A few months ago, Best teased a mysterious project and dropped a hint about Darth Jar Jar – now we know what it was about.

Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy launches on September 13, 2024 on Disney Plus and consists of a total of four episodes. The real new Star Wars series will continue this year on June 5th: The Acolyte starts on this date. Skeleton Crew will follow in winter 2024.
