Baldur's Gate 3: Physical PS5 release in the USA delayed

Via However, there was positive news for the European PS5 community.

In November, the developers at Larian Studios responded to the community's request for a physical version of the hit role-playing game “Baldur's Gate 3” and announced a deluxe edition.

In addition to a disc version of “Baldur's Gate 3”, this includes various extras. These include a mind flayer poster, a double-sided map and the official soundtrack of the fantasy adventure on three discs. There is also digital content such as the bard package or new skins for the dice.

In an update on the physical version released late last week, Larian Studios admitted that the Xbox Series X/S version and the North American PS5 version of the Deluxe Edition were further delayed due to unforeseen production issues. The European PS5 version, on the other hand, is not affected and will be delivered these days.

The developers' statement verbatim

A few days ago, Larian Studios stated: “We have now arrived in May. The month in which we actually expected to ship the deluxe editions for the consoles. Unfortunately, we have encountered additional production issues that are beyond our control. These have further delayed shipping dates for North American PS5 orders and all Xbox orders.”

“We are working to get them to you as quickly as possible and apologize for this additional delay. All PC orders have already been shipped. PS5 orders for Europe and Oceania will begin shipping this week.”

“We expect all deluxe edition orders to ship during May,” it said.

What's next for the brand?

In recent months, Larian has confirmed several times that the studio is not available for a sequel to “Baldur's Gate 3”. We should also use DLCs or expansions for a successful role-playing game don't count. But what will happen next with “Baldur’s Gate”?

Hasbro, the parent company of Wizards of the Coast and therefore the rights holder of “Baldur's Gate,” says it is talking to several possible partners. The goal pursued: to create a new “Baldur's Gate” and to continue the series. In the best case scenario, the community will not have to “wait another 25 years,” according to the company.

“We are currently speaking to and being approached by many partners who are taking on the challenge of what the future of the Baldur's Gate franchise might look like,” commented Eugene Evans, Senior Vice President of Digital Strategy and Licensing at Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, the current development.

“We certainly hope that it won't take another 25 years, as was the case with Baldur's Gate 2 to 3, before we can answer this question.”
