All previously confirmed crime syndicates in the Ubisoft game presented

In action adventure “Star Wars Outlaws” We should be able to experience the galaxy far, far away like never before in a video game based on the star saga. As outlaw Kay Vess, we move through the criminal underworld and get to know notorious crime syndicates. Below we will introduce you to the shady organizations confirmed for the open world adventure in more detail.

So far, Ubisoft has announced five syndicates that will play larger roles in the game's plot. These are the Ashiga Clan, Crimson Dawn, the Hutt Cartel, the Pyke Syndicate and Zerek Besh. The latter comes a key position within the story, but more on that further down in the article.

Ashiga clan

We get to know a completely new crime syndicate with the Ashiga Clan. This group became special created for “Star Wars Outlaws”.. Their main base was on the planet Kijimi in the Middle Rim of the known galaxy. During the era of the New Galactic Republic, this cold world was under the occupation of the First Order. In the year 35 after the Battle of Yavin IV (NSY), the planet was wiped out.

The Ashiga Clan has one strict code of honor, which in turn is based on the Melitto hierarchy. These insect-like aliens organize their society like a beehive and are also led by a queen. Each member of the collective is judged according to the importance of their role in the bigger picture. The Ashiga Can's businesses included, among other things, extortion, smuggling and arms trafficking.

Crimson Dawn

Crimson Dawn was created during the Clone Wars Sith Lord Darth Maul brought to life, who pulled the strings in the shadows. By the way, the crime syndicate was only part of a larger organization, more precisely the Shadow Collective, which was also under Maul's control. The organization was officially represented from the year 10 before the Battle of Yavin IV (VSY) by Qi'ra, Han Solo's childhood sweetheart. During its active time, the group was feared primarily because of its brutal and ruthless methods.

The name Qi'ra may sound familiar to some people, after all, she played an important role in the film Solo: A Star Wars Story, in which she was portrayed by Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”). The character also appears in the open-world adventure “Star Wars Outlaws”, although the Hollywood star is not involved in the video game, as Game Informer colleague Brian Shea via X (formerly Twitter) confirmed.

After Darth Maul's death in 2 BBY, Qi'ra also officially rose to the leader of the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn. The new leader of the organization had hoped to use their influence to overthrow the Emperor and Darth Vader, but the group disappeared from the scene a few years later. In the year 3 NSY, the syndicate celebrated its comeback: at an auction they wanted the one frozen in carbonite Buy Han Solo at auction. In “Star Wars Outlaws” we see the group at the height of its power.

Hutt Cartel

The Hutt Cartel is one of them oldest crime syndicates the galaxy far, far away. Its history goes back several millennia, which is also due to the fact that the organization's once strict rules have become increasingly weaker. For example, some members of the three Hutt families over time made deals with the Galactic Republic, despite attempts by the Separatists to thwart this alliance. The Hutts traded primarily in various goods Drugs, slaves and weapons.

As the Galactic Empire continued to expand its power, so did the influence of the Hutt Cartel. During this era the organization counted among the most powerful crime syndicates the galaxy. However, after the death of Jabba, who is of course still alive during the events of “Star Wars Outlaws,” the Syndicate atrophied and almost disappeared into insignificance.

Pyke Syndicate

The Pyke Syndicate experienced his wedding as the clone wars raged across the galaxy. Under the leadership of Lom Pyke and later Marg Krim, the criminal organization was primarily active in spice and coaxium smuggling. During this turbulent time, the Pykes were also a member of the army led by Darth Maul Shadow Collective. During the Siege of Mandalore (19 BBY), the Pykes were ordered to go into hiding.

At the time of the Galactic Empire, the spice mines in particular were on the Planet Cauldron of central importance to the crime syndicate. In 10 BBY, a slave rebellion occurred on this world, which also involved a young Han Solo.

Nevertheless, the era of the Galactic Empire was primarily one of expansion for the Pyke Syndicate. The group expanded its sphere of influence to several worlds and left Alliances with other underworld organizations a.

During the so-called Syndicate War, a “Star Wars” comic event in which various criminal groups fought and competed against each other, the Pykes were also busy getting involved. Emperor Palpatine ultimately intervened personally to persuade the heads of the fighting families to agree to a ceasefire.

Zerek Besh

The most important crime syndicate in “Star Wars Outlaws” is probably Zerek Besh, after all, its leader has a very personal score to settle with our protagonist Kay Vess. she has Sliro, the leader of the organization, and thus earned his wrath. What's more, he has one Assassin on Kay which relentlessly hunts our character. Together with our loyal crew we are supposed to pull off a risky coup in the game.

Sliro is one of the galaxy's elite and lives on the planet Canto Bight, which some people may already know from the movie “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”. In it, our two heroes Finn and Rose learn that war is not as black and white as they always thought. Zerek Besh are still a fairly young “company” at the time of the open-world adventure, but the group has grown rapidly due to their wealth and methods built a reputation.

Incidentally, the crime syndicate does not celebrate its premiere in “Star Wars Outlaws”. It was actually first mentioned in the comic book “Star Wars: Crimson Reign #5” in 2022. Zerek Besh also fought during the “Syndicate War” event, which begins after the War of the Bounty Hunters and tells of it, like Crimson Dawn to strike against the Sith takes out. Crimson Dawn deceived Zerek Besh, inciting it to fight other syndicates.

Other important crime syndicates

It is striking that other crime syndicates have not yet been mentioned in the promotional material for “Star Wars Outlaws”. At the time of Kay Vess' adventures were other criminal organizations are active, whose businesses also flourished during the reign of the Galactic Empire. Here we are thinking primarily of three groups where we can imagine that they could also play a role in the action adventure.

First comes us Black sun come to mind. This organization's business flourished especially during the Clone Wars, with the group focusing on the Outer Rim of the Galaxy. The Syndicate was part of Darth Maul's Shadow Collective, but later closed a pact with Emperor Palpatine and his Galactic Empire. The syndicate then disappeared from the radar. However, they returned to bid on Han Solo, frozen in carbonite.

Another group that was still active during the Empire's rule is the Droid Gotra. Its members exposed themselves renegade battle droids together who had rebelled against the scrapping of droids after the end of the Clone Wars. Originally they were primarily active on Coruscant, but after helping other criminal organizations as thugs, they also expanded their own influence. Little fun fact: This organization was created for the discontinued video game “Star Wars: 1313”.

Finally, we could imagine that the Unbroken Clan could also play a role in “Star Wars Outlaws”. This powerful crime syndicate was primarily based on the Planet Corellia, the homeworld of Han Solo and Qi'ra, active. However, during the period in which the story of the action adventure takes place, the Unbroken clan was destroyed. The Empire commissioned him Assassin droid IG-88 with the elimination of the syndicate leader.

The story of “Star Wars Outlaws” takes place between the years 3 NSY and 4 NSY, i.e. between “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” and “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi”. After criminal Kay Vess had a falling out with Sliro and Zerek Besh, she has to the biggest robbery the galaxy has ever seen. If she is successful, she could finally get what she has always wanted: freedom.

“Star Wars Outlaws” will be released on August 30, 2024 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles and PC.
