The series hosted by Jenna Ortega is one of Netflix's biggest hits: Wednesday (Or Wednesday) is of course returning for a season 2. Enough to aim for a release during 2025, but don't hope for it at the start of the year though.

In any case, the streaming service is taking advantage of this announcement to tease. This May 7, we were treated to a complete video dedicated to the first episode of season 2. Enough to give a taste of what awaits us, but especially on the casting side.

Who will star in Wednesday season 2 on Netflix?

The animation of the video presents, door by door, the main cast. While some returns are not surprising (Emma Myers, Catherine Zeta-Jones, etc.), there are also arrivals that had not been previously announced. And especially : Billie Piper. The British actress rose to fame with her role in the early seasons of Doctor Whothe 2005 reboot, in the role of the unforgettable Rose.

Also added Joanna Lumleyin the surprise role of Wednesday's grandmother. Thandiwe Newton And Steve Buscemitwo big names, are also confirmed, although their presence had already been announced in the press.

But there is another surprise, which does not appear during the main animation – you have to stay at the very end of the video: the addition of Christopher Lloyd to the casting. The actor is no stranger to this Addams Family universe. Three decades ago, he played Uncle Foul in big screen films. His exact role in the series remains unknown.

It is a habit of Wednesday however: season 1 included Christina Ricci, former interpreter of the character, in its story… and even in a very important, even decisive role. Would it be the same for Lloyd?

The absences from the casting are themselves notable for the rest of the story: Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier Thorpe in season 1, does not return in these new episodes. Likewise for Naomi J Ogawa (Yoko).

The rest of the teaser teaches us other production elements:

  • The first episode will be titled An unfortunate new beginning (which reveals nothing very particular except that it will quickly return to dark chaos)
  • It is again directed by Tim Burton (this was not the case for all episodes of season 1)
  • Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are back on screenplay

Between An unfortunate new beginning and the little phrase from Jenna Ortega’s character, “ Let the torture continuee”, this teaser sets the tone for these next episodes: it will be dark. And probably even more than season 1, as the actress promised.
