The first of the first, but how well – time will tell
Finally, the long-awaited presentation of Xiaomi took place, where they showed the brand new Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. The smartphones really turned out to be very good; at the presentation, much attention was paid to traditional cameras and power, and they also compared the devices with the iPhone 15.
The design of the smartphone has not changed fundamentally, with the exception of the camera module. On the back of the devices there is a large square camera module with three sensors, an LED flash and the Leica logo, and on the front there is a flat display with very narrow frames and a circular cutout in the center of the top for the front camera module.

Xiaomi 14, as expected, received a 6.36” AMOLED C8 manufactured by TCL with a resolution of 1.5K, a pixel density of 460 ppi and a frame rate of 1 to 120 Hz. The company also promises as much as 3,000 nits of brightness, which is an absolute record among all smartphones at this time.
The smartphone was the first to receive the latest flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, breaking all power records and showing good energy efficiency results, although we still have to check this.

In collaboration with Leica Lens, the smartphone received very interesting cameras with a “new generation optical system”. The main innovation in the Xiaomi 14 camera is a fast Leica Summilux lens with an F/1.6 aperture, consisting of 7 elements. Xiaomi 14 received a completely new sensor, which has the intriguing name “Light and Shadow Hunter” (or Light Hunter 900). This is its official designation. And they compared its capabilities with its main competitor Sony IMX 989.
The camera contains four modules with lenses of 14, 23, 46 and 75 mm. The maximum optical zoom is 3.2x. Of course, there is an optical stabilization system – mainly modules and telephoto modules.
Xiaomi 14 supports 90W fast charging and has a 4610 mAh battery. The device configuration also includes an extensive vapor chamber, stereo speakers, NFC, a fast USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port, a Wi-Fi 7 adapter and Bluetooth 5.4. The flagship smartphone also receives protection from water and dust according to the IP68 standard.
The new product will be available in black, white, green and pink. In terms of price, the basic version 8/256GB starts at 3999 Yuan (approximately $545), and the maximum version 16GB/1TB starts at 4999 Yuan respectively (approximately $685).
The smartphone still looks very attractive, so we are waiting for this handsome guy to appear on the global market as soon as possible.
