Xbox Series X: Completely white

According to unconfirmed reports, Microsoft is set to release a digital-only version of the Xbox Series X this summer. Shortly before the long Easter weekend, we received supposed snapshots of the console that show a completely white design.

As is well known, Sony decided to release the console in two versions when it launched the PS5 at the end of 2020. In addition to a classic version with a drive, the company offers a digital version of the console without a drive, which is 100 euros cheaper.

Documents made public as part of last year's litigation between Microsoft and the FTC clarified, that Microsoft could be working on a digital version of the Xbox Series X. While the Redmond software giant has not yet wanted to comment on this topic, its colleagues at Exputer are currently providing new topics of conversation.

As the editors at Exputer report, the magazine was provided with exclusive snapshots that show the digital version of the Xbox Series X from different angles. You can find the pictures in question, which unfortunately leave a little to be desired in terms of quality here.

A white version of the Xbox Series X?

If we are not dealing with fakes in the pictures, then these confirm another rumor. We're talking about the fact that Microsoft is said to have decided to go with a completely white design for the Digital Edition of the Xbox Series X.

It is still unclear when the official unveiling or even the release of the purely digital Xbox Series X can be expected. Like Exputer at the end of February reported, the new console is expected to be released in late spring or early summer. A launch in June or July is currently likely.

However, according to Exputer, it cannot be ruled out that the ongoing tense situation in the semiconductor sector will lead to an unplanned delay and thus a later launch.

How much should the digital version cost?

Since Microsoft has not yet officially announced the digital version of the Xbox Series X, it is unclear at what price the console will be offered. However, just like with the Digital Edition of the PS5, we can expect a price saving of up to 100 euros. According to Exputer, the removal of the optical drive is not the only change to the hardware.

Instead, the magazine spoke in February of an optimized cooling solution, low power consumption, a revised controller and improved Wi-Fi performance.

However, the cylindrical design that the rumor mill was talking about last year doesn't seem to be true according to the leaked images. Of course, always assuming that the snapshots in question are real.

If Microsoft comments on the rumors about the purely digital Xbox Series X, we will of course bring you up to date immediately.
