With one small detail, the Amazon series follows a golden rule of games

In the Fallout games, we often don't travel through the wasteland alone. And it stays that way in the series.

Players will probably find themselves in a few places in the new Fallout series: the main characters are distracted by side tasks, accidentally take on monsters that are too strong and sometimes have to make difficult decisions. However, the series also follows a rule of games that you may not have noticed.

Spoiler warning: The following is also about the story of the Fallout series. If you haven't seen it yet, then it's best not to read any further.

Daring togetherness

Companions that help you journey through the wasteland have always been a part of the Fallout games. While you traveled with a whole group in the first Fallout and the sequel, the number of companions was later significantly limited. As of Fallout 3, you can only go on adventures in the post-apocalypse with one other person.

And the series follows exactly this rule. Lucy (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten) and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) are traveling with a maximum of two at any time. The Reddit user first noticed this AngryPringlewho made his discovery right away one post shared.

But let's go through the events briefly: After breaking out of the vault, Lucy initially travels alone, then accompanies Wilzig for a short time and then involuntarily goes on tour with the ghoul. She then meets Maximus and travels with him through the wasteland. And in the finale, Lucy joins the ghoul after saying goodbye to the unconscious Maximus.

So Lucy has at most one companion at any time, with one exception, namely Dogmeat. However, in Fallout 3 you can have the dog in addition to one normal Recruit companions. It was planned to be similar for Fallout 4, but was changed during development.

How true to the original the Fallout series really is has been discussed repeatedly among fans in the last few days. Even Todd Howard, chief developer at Bethesda Game Studios, has now commented on an alleged break with Fallout: New Vegas. You can read what a lore expert thinks of the series in our special.
