There is war on Mars. Powerful corporations are fighting for the scarce water, contact with Earth has been broken and the simple Martian population is suffering from the sun, which is even causing mutations. You play as Zachariah – a technomancer with electro-abilities fighting for a better future on Mars. Whether you join the rebels in the role-playing game or side with gangsters is up to you.
With numerous decisions you determine the path that Zechariah takes and who is your friend or enemy. This also affects your possible companions, of whom you are allowed to have a maximum of two with you on your expedition at the same time. A rebellious companion will not join a gangster and vice versa. If you make yourself particularly popular with your fellow campaigners, personal quests and, depending on your character, possible love relationships will open up for you.

Aside from the main quests, there are some dungeons and areas to explore that have many additional side quests and lots of loot for you. This also includes scrap that you can use at workbenches to upgrade your equipment. Time well spent, because the fights are not child's play despite having Ki buddies. If you want to avoid fights, you can solve some situations non-violently with the right skills. If you have a high charisma value, you'll be able to convince your counterpart more easily. If you rely on theft instead, you'll crack locked doors and steal from NPCs to get to your destination.
However, you can't avoid the impressive boss fights. The beautifully designed bosses are introduced with smartly staged cutscenes and demand everything from you in the fight. Good for those who are by then fit in dealing with the lightning powers and the various weapons, which you can switch between in battle at the touch of a button.
