Upgraded X.Org Video Drivers: nv 2.1.23, vboxvideo 1.0.1, savage 2.4.1, and chips 1.5.0 now available

The release of DDX drivers developed by the X.Org project took place, working in user space and not requiring KMS/DRM drivers on the kernel side. New versions offer backlog of bug fixes and provide compatibility with modern compilers. Updates available:

  • xf86-video-nv 2.1.23 – driver for older NVIDIA video cards that do not provide support at the kernel level.
  • xf86-video-vboxvideo 1.0.1 – driver for the VBoxVGA virtual graphics adapter used in VirtualBox. The driver can be used to run the X server in situations where the guest system does not have the vboxvideo KMS driver running at the kernel level (if there is a kernel module, use the generic “xf86-video-modesetting” driver).
  • xf86-video-chips 1.5.0 – driver for graphics devices from Chips & Technologies.
  • xf86-video-savage 2.4.1 – driver for video cards of the Savage family, produced by S3 in the late 1990s.

You can also note the publication of a new version of the library libX11 1.8.8 with the implementation of the X11 protocol and updating the utilities and libraries developed by the X.Org project
