Genesis Climber MOSPEADA does that remind you of something ? For now, zero link with the cult series Neon Genesis Evangelion which marked an entire generation in the mid-1990s, but it's still something that deserves – really – your attention… This science fiction work, broadcast in France at the end of the 1980s, is back on Crunchyroll since April 25 ! A comeback after more than 40 years which is not without surprise. Because at the time, France was able to benefit from “Robotech” – an American montage of three series (Macross, Southern Cross, Mospeada) with no apparent link. In reality, this is the first time that Genesis Climber MOSPEADA arrives as such, in its original assembly, in our beautiful country. A nice reason to go see all this.

SF as we like it

On the side of the scenario Genesis Climber MOSPEADA sends us to an Earth invaded by Inbits, very strange aliens… From Mars, two raids are organized to rescue the blue planet, without success. Only Stick Bernard survives, and miraculously finds Earth resistance fighters. Then begins a quest to uncover the secret of the aliens with transformable vehicles (including a motorcycle). The series is made up of 25 episodes of around twenty minutes each.all with French subtitles.

A five-star cast

Certainly, the pitch of the anime is a bit conventional – but when you understand who is behind it, you will be more enthusiastic. Yes, in the character design, we find a certain Yoshitaka Amano (at the origin of several covers and artworks of the Final Fantasy saga) – and on the design side of the mechas, it is Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) who is in charge! And then, icing on the cake, a certain Joe Hisaishi (man behind the soundtrack of the greatest Ghibli films) has created several scores for Genesis Climber MOSPEADA… Music which was also absent from the Robotech version.
