XDefiant tests its limits

This is not the first time that XDefiant has undergone a testing phase. In September 2023, Ubisoft's free FPS was approached, with generally very positive feedback. Since then, it seems that the game has not lived happily ever after. The fault would be attributed in particular to a desire by the higher-ups to reproduce Call of Duty, particularly with regard to the economic model. This strategy does not seem to be to the taste of the developers, and would have led to repeated delays.

Willy-nilly, XDefiant would finally prepare for a proper launch, first going through a testing phase of these servers. This is precisely the objective of this weekend's session. If you wish to participate, you can already preload the game. On PC, this will happen on the Ubisoft Connect launcher. On consoles, you just need to go through their respective store. In any case, you will only have to search for “XDefiant – Server Test Session” to get the sesame.

What to expect from this testing phase?

As its name suggests, this trial period starting on April 19 at 7 p.m. and ending on April 21 is mainly intended to undermine XDefiant's servers. Ubisoft therefore hopes that as many players as possible will respond in order to see if the servers can support the load. If the test proves conclusive, the new free FPS from the French giant should be officially released soon.

Either way, you should be able to test out a solid sample of what XDefiant intends to offer. Remember that the title is a sort of mix between Call of Duty and Overwatch 2, in the sense that we embody agents from the different factions of the flagship licenses of Ubisoft games such as Echelon in Splinter Cell, the Phantoms from Ghost Recon or even DeadSec from Watch Dogs, among others. Each faction has different agents aiming to represent the Holy Trinity “DPS – Tank – Support”.

  • Play in a group : Ember weapon skin for the M9
  • Reach level 18 : three experience boosters for weapons

If you're intrigued by XDefiant and you're free this weekend, then you know what to do.
