Unpleasant Surprise: Upset Subscribers React

If usually PS Plus is generally synonymous with good news, this time, unfortunately, many subscribers were disappointed. We explain why.

It was with surprise that yesterday, PS Plus Extra subscribers were able to learn some bad news the hard way. At least, in appearance. Even after Bethesda's clarifications, which may have brought slight relief for some, in substance as well as in form, many feel anger, and we can very well understand why. Here's the whole story for those who haven't been following.

PS Plus is infuriating

This Thursday, April 25, was the big day! The next-gen update for Fallout 4 has been deployed on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. Naturally, PS Plus Extra and Premium members rushed to their catalog to download the new native version of the game. Except that they faced an unpleasant surprise: only the PS4 version was available. Enough to trigger a few flashbacks (hello FF7 Remake Intergrade), but above all it caused an outcry. Because if everyone was housed in the same room, perhaps the pill would have been easier to pass (and again), but their comrades who play via Xbox Game Pass did not have this problem. The next-gen version of Fallout 4 was there as soon as it was deployed, unlike PS Plus.

Angry subscribers quickly took to forums and social media to express their discontent. Many expressed their anger without any restraint, while others mainly showed their disappointment, especially since the GOTY version of Fallout 4 was less than €10 a few days earlier. Bethesda spoke a few hours later to clarify the situation: it was not intentional and the problem would be corrected as soon as possible via an update, free of charge of course. Good news, it is now available for PS Plus Extra and Premium members. All's well That ends well ? Not in everyone's eyes.

Bethesda can't calm the players down

This situation has raised questions about the consistency of practices between the different platforms, particularly in comparison with Xbox Game Pass users, who already benefit from the native version on Xbox Series X/S without restrictions. Enough to totally rage.

Bethesda's response did not completely dispel the frustrations as it indicated that the update would be available in a future update without specifying a date. This has left players uncertain as to when they will actually be able to benefit from these improvements. Thus exacerbating their dissatisfaction. And then many PS Plus users were hoping to get the update for free, especially after purchasing earlier versions of the game, like the Game of the Year (GOTY) edition, which was recently on sale at a discounted price. This expectation was reinforced by the fact that Xbox users benefit from the update at no additional cost thanks to their Xbox Game Pass subscription. The situation therefore also highlighted an apparent inequality of treatment between PlayStation players and those on Xbox
