The Protorelic of Nibel | Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Guide

The quest for the protorelic can start at the end of chapter 11, when the team must set off for the airfield.

Investigation Report 1: A group of blackcoats

  • For this report, level 41 is recommended.

Near the marker, a group of blackcoats have gathered and appear to be heading somewhere. Follow them to their destination, knowing that they are very slow, although you can push them in the back.

After a few steps, two Nibel Wolves and two Galvanic Orongs appear. The orongs are easily eliminated and, when facing the wolves, stay on guard in the SOLDIER Bravery position to counter them, weaken them and thus eliminate them more easily. Take the road again alongside the black coats until you reach a station.

Open the door and you come face to face with two stealthy Lurkers. Vulnerable to ice, these beasts use Boosted Aggression, which boosts their physical attack. If you hit them enough at this point, they will become fragile. Be careful of their Corrosive Ray which inflicts penalties. With Rolling Charge, the walkers rush towards you.

Once beaten, Cloud recovers a protorelic fragment α. Now head towards the next gathering point.

Investigation report 2: at the airfield

  • For this report, level 41 is recommended.

Southwest of Nibel Airfield, a second group of blackcoats head towards a gate. Once in front, it does not open. You will have to go around the west side of the airfield, at sea level, with the help of your chocobo.

Once you spot the breach, head inside. Back on dry land, face a Valron as well as two Nibel Wolves. The Vale is vulnerable and weakens with ice magic, so don't hesitate.

After the fight, open the door on the northwest side to arrive in a room with a submarine. Using the skill of your chocobo as well as the puddles all around the submarine, rise into the air to land on it. Enter using a ladder to open a chest containing a pendanteria Offensive Weakenthen go back up.

Note the gap in the wall on the west side of the room, so you can pass into another room. On the other side, cross the debris until you reach a small group of black coats. Unfortunately, three Stealthy Rangers kill them, initiating a fight against you.

By winning it, you get a protorelic fragment β. Now let's head to the third group.

Investigation report 3: at the estuary

  • For this report, level 42 is recommended.

Upon joining the third group of black coats at the estuary, creatures from Hôjô immediately arrive to possess them. So here you are facing three necrotic Entities. As in Chapter 5, dodging their Dark Laceration, attacking them during Black Claws, or dealing a powerful blow to them while casting a spell will weaken them.

After the fight, you witness a strange manipulation of Chadley by Hôjô, before your traveling companion reminds you to follow the march of the black coats again. So do what will take you through the stairs.

Continue to climb until you come across a Necrotic Entity and a Mhadomhanju. For the latter, be careful of its mass. Even try a perfect parry to stun him. As soon as the fight is over, continue going up to find the trail of the black coats. Go to the door and wait until they are close enough. Stand at the valve and turn it while holding both triggers.

On the other side, go up the small wooden passage and face two new Necrotic Entities below. Once calm has returned, a small puzzle asks you to turn three valves to open the door. Knowing that the red parts of the valves must be aligned with the arrows located above them. proceed as follows:

  • Turn the valve LEFT
  • Turn the valve RIGHT
  • Turn the valve medium
  • Turn the valve RIGHT

After this combination, the door opens. A little surprise awaits you inside as a Bloodthirsty Ptenorops descends from the heavens.

Vulnerable to lightning, inflicting damage on it will eventually weaken it. Hitting it in the eye will hurt it a lot, but the critter will eventually cast Mana Shield in case of low HP, making it immune to physical damage.

Move away from her when she casts Blade Shower and stay mobile when she drops showers of light. In a state of Shock, its protection against physical attacks disappears, which should allow it to be finished off.

Once the fight is over, you leave with a protorelic fragment γ. More than a destination now.

Investigation report 4: on the coast

  • For this report, level 45 is recommended.

For this final step in Nibel's protorelic quest, head to the beach at the region's estuary. There, a group of black coats sink into the ocean, wanting to reach the island opposite.

With your chocobo, go around it and rise into the air to reach the heights of the island located in front of a large group of black coats, wandering on the beach next door. Climb up a second time then continue to reach the top, where you see black cloaks kneeling in front of a creature. It turns out that this time they did the work themselves and unearthed the last fragment of protorelic.

Problem, they sneakily stole the other fragments of Cloud. All gathered together, the spinners then give way to Sephiroth, who himself summons the famous eccentric warrior seen during each protorelic quest. A fight against him begins.

As in the previous encounter, the Eccentric Swordsman has weaknesses linked to fire, poison, Anti-Breastplate, Anti-Providence, Anti-Bravery and Anti-Faith. Only this time, if you want to weaken him, you will have to execute perfect parries.

They are relatively feasible during Double Breakthrough attacks, or even Big Reap. In case of fragility, quickly follow up with a Piercing Shock from Cloud. Once in Shock, send him everything you have to reduce his life bar as much as possible, or even to zero if you have increased his Shock multiplier.

After the fight, the swashbuckler disappears. Sephiroth then appears one last time, ordering Cloud to search for the black materia. Cloud then picks up the protorelic of the blackcloaks and undergoes a subliminal passage into the Mysterious Warrior dimension, which concludes Nibel's protorelic arc.
