Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Slasher is available since April 19 on Netflix. Rebel Moon depicts a story that resembles the balance of power between David and Goliath. However, here it is a small village from a fertile planet which finds itself threatened by the superpower of the Mother World. In the first part, Rebel Moon: Child of Fire, Kora and the rest of his band achieve an unexpected victory against Admiral Noble. The second part continues with the triumphant return of the heroes to the village. On tour to promote the film, the director Zack Snyder couldn't help but reveal some filming secrets.

There is absolutely a Last Supper in Justice League 2, with a scene where the heroes had to tell the story of how they ended up there […] and, yes, the Rebel Moon scene has a similar structure to what we envisioned for Justice League 2. Zack Snyder, who directed Justice League as well as Rebel Moon, admits being inspired by an idea for a scene he had imagined for a potential Justice League 2. The scene in question is that of a last meal between the different protagonists. This scene consists of each hero recounting their past, so that they can learn more about those they are about to fight alongside. The reason Zack Snyder was able to direct this scene is because Justice League 2 will probably never see the light of day. Among the heroes seated at the table of Artelais, some of them will never see the sun set again…

Justice League & Rebel Moon: Two failed bets for Zack Snyder?

Now that a few days have passed after the release of the second part of Rebel Moon, critics have started to give their opinions. Unfortunately, what Zack Snyder is criticized for is the lack of coherence in the story. “Zack Snyder is the Golden Corral of directors. The food may not be very good, but like a buffet, you get everything.” says Korey Coleman for Double Toasted. The story of the characters is quickly summarized and does not give the spectators time to get attached to them. “This finale is the cinematic equivalent of completing a second-hand puzzle only to discover that several pieces are missing.” says Hanna Flint for IGN Movies.

One of the points in common with Justice League, released in 2017 and directed initially by Zack Snyder, then by Joss Whedon, is that it is about two extremely disappointing films. The Justice League project ultimately collapsed after the fiasco of the first part, causing lose 60 million dollars at Warner Bros. Although the American director has an indisputable quality for capturing magnificent images, he seems to confirm that the story and the characters are not areas in which critics are kind to him. Despite the director's cut planned for this summer, the sequel to Rebel Moon is not sure to see the light of day given the reactions provoked by the first two parts. This is not a surprise but it is the same for Justice League, which will leave as its only legacy this scene of the last meal.
