Google usually releases its flagship series in October, which consists of two smartphones. This year that will change and the manufacturer will bring a third device onto the market.

Will the XL variant come back in 2024?

Pixel 9 (Pro/XL): This is what the cell phones supposedly look like

The well-known leaker with the pseudonym “OnLeaks” has over 91mobiles CAD renderings for the Pixel 9 (standard model) released. The originally leaked images, on the other hand, were supposed to show, among other things, the planned Pixel 9 Pro (XL), as corrected in the linked post.

A leaked roadmap from 2022 predicted a trio consisting of a Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.

What are the differences in screen size?

  • Pixel 9: 6.1 inch display
  • Pixel 9 Pro: 6.1 inch display
  • Pixel 9 Pro XL: 6.7 inch display

Essentially, by introducing XL branding, Google has simultaneously created a smaller phone in the Pro series, should the rumors prove true. The smaller Pro differs from the standard model primarily in the camera module.

The telephoto camera and the temperature sensor are no longer included in the standard model.

Overall, all three smartphones in the group should speak a uniform design language and appear significantly more angular. The camera bump on the back is reminiscent of the Pixel Fold, which already didn't have a full-length camera element on the back.

What do the specifications say? It's obvious that Google will include its latest Tensor G4 chip in the Pixel 9 series. The processor is probably supported by 12.0 GB of RAM.

In addition, the latest smartphones from Mountain View should have the current Qi2 charging standard on board.

As can be seen from the article linked above, Google could give the Pro series a 108-megapixel main camera this year.

Before we can admire the Pixel 9 series, Google I/O will follow on May 14th, where new hardware will most likely be presented.

It's quite possible that we'll see the Pixel 8a. It is currently doubtful whether a new Pixel Fold will make it onto the market this year. Information and leaks are currently rare.
