The Pros and Cons for PC Gamers: A Balanced Perspective

Released in 2014 on PS4 and Xbox One, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is finally available on PC. But this is only available on one platform, and not the most popular…

As a reminder, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is the ultimate version of the first opus of the Crystal Dynamics reboot trilogy. Tomb Raider Definitive Edition finally on PC, but not for everyone

In 2013, Crystal Dynamics relaunched the iconic Tomb Raider license and its heroine Lara Croft with a reboot drawing many inspirations from Uncharted on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. A year later, this first opus of a trilogy 'offers a Definitive Edition, only on PS4 and Xbox One. The PC is then left stranded on the beach. It was only 10 years later and with the utmost discretion that the rescuers returned to PC to offer this famous ultimate version… only on the Microsoft Store.

On Steam and the Epic Games Store, users will have to settle for the Game of the Year edition for now. This includes all the additional content from Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, but not the graphical improvements. You will also find below a comparative video of the two versions of the game. Unfortunately for players allergic to the Microsoft Store, or who do not have a Windows partition on their PC, this version is not currently accessible to them . There is no indication yet whether the Definitive Edition will arrive on other platforms such as Steam.

Waiting for news from Lara Croft

Unfortunately, this is not the only recent decision that raises questions regarding the legendary license. On the one hand, Tomb Raider Remastered is full of controversies. As for the production of new games in the franchise, the future appears particularly uncertain. This has recently changed publisher, to pass into the hands of Middle-Earth Enterprises, owned by Embracer Group.

Crystal Dynamics, which is working on the next Tomb Raider game, seemed confident about the latest news. But what about this change of publisher? The future will tell us what it holds for the iconic Lara Croft. Let's hope that the British adventurer will not impale herself (again) on a bone, like in the first reboot opus, now finally available in Definitive Edition on PC… only via the Microsoft Store.
