Switch 2: an announcement during the fiscal year

The financial results of Nintendo are out today and, with two million consoles sold during the last quarter, it would seem that the Switch really reaching the end of the race. The opportunity to finally admit the existence of the open secret that is “Switch2”? It seems that this is the strategy chosen by the manufacturer, since the president Shuntaro Furukawa he himself took his best virtual pen to tweet that an announcement of the manufacturer's next console would arrive “during the current fiscal year“, either before March 31, 2025 (fingers crossed that the console itself will also be released before this date).

The tweet in question, which you can find below, also tells us that after several months without Nintendo Direct, a presentation by the manufacturer will indeed be held in June. But beware : “there will be no mention of the successor to the Nintendo Switch during this presentation“, which seems to indicate that the announcement of the “Switch2” would be done after this one (and yes, I'm a logic genius, I've played all the Laytons).

This is Furukawa, president of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to the Nintendo Switch during the current fiscal year. It's been over nine years since we announced the Nintendo Switch in March 2015. We'll be holding a Nintendo Direct in June to discuss Nintendo Switch games coming in the second half of 2024, but be warned that There will be no mention of the successor to the Nintendo Switch during this presentation.

If we do not yet know the date on which the “Switch2” will be announced, the fact of seeing the manufacturer admit its existence should at least reassure those who did not believe in it, and could even allow certain publishers to already communicate on games to appear on the next console of Nintendo. Come on, only a few long months to wait before seeing if all the latest rumors about the console were indeed true, as well as getting a preview of the games that will be available at launch. Looking forward to the announcement!
