Second season could show a location that will be familiar to players

At the end of the first season, Ella's father, Hank MacLean, escapes in stolen Brotherhood power armor. He ends up in a place that the players of Obsidians Fallout: New Vegas should know particularly well. However, New Vegas in the series looks completely different than what fans are used to from the video game.

“It would definitely be weird if we went to New York City after this teaser,” co-showrunner Graham Wagner joked in an interview with GQ. But viewers should know that “things have happened” since the events of “New Vegas” (which canonically take place 15 years before the series).

This is to ensure that there is “not an expectation that we will continue the series in the second season and follow one of the countless canonical endings that depend on the decisions made when you [Fallout: New Vegas] plays”. Bethesda recently clarified that the events in “New Vegas” are still belong to the official canon.

The second season wants to delve further into the catastrophe

According to the showrunner, the series aims to suggest that the world of “Fallout” is evolving and will not always remain the same as what players are used to in the video games. “The idea that the wasteland stays the same from decade to decade is absurd to us.” According to Wagner, the wasteland is a “place [der] constant tragedy, events, terror”. There would be a constant ebb and flow of trauma.

In addition, with the second season of “Fallout,” the team wants to delve even more into the circumstances that led to nuclear war. In the first season it was already hinted at how the catastrophe could have occurred. However, Wagner states that there is “more to tell.” Between the relevant scene in the series and the actual bomb drop, “more exciting things” are planned.
