What are sheep for in Manor Lords?

In Manor Lordscontrary to oxen, horses and mules which are utility animals, sheep are part of the livestock animals – and are in fact the only ones at the moment – and make it possible to manufacture very advanced resources from their wool. But if the acquisition of utility animals turns out to be rather easy, setting up a sheep farm and starting the production of resources linked to these animals requires several steps to complete. Let's look at this whole process in detail.

Like other animals, sheep have a link with several constructions that will have to be built before we can really tackle the issue. If the utility animals are placed in a stable, the sheep first ask to define a pasture on the map. Go to the “agriculture” tab of the constructions menu, then select “pastures” and place the desired boundaries on the map. Location doesn't matter, but be sure to build pastures large enough in case you want to exploit the sheep's full potential.

Once this step has been completed, you must now obtain your precious animals. This time, you will have to go through the “cattle fair” building present in the “commerce” tab of the constructions menu. Build this building near a royal road to optimize the transport of goods. In the building menu, then select the “trade” tab and set the number of sheep you wish to purchase while choosing “import” from the left drop-down menu. No need to establish a trade route: once your choices are validated, a livestock merchant will soon visit your town and your sheep will then be automatically placed in your previously constructed pastures. Also note that you will not necessarily need to acquire a large number of animals. Once the sheep are established in your pastures, they will begin to reproduce, which will then give you lambs that you can, for example, sell or keep so that they grow..

The next step is to collect wool from sheep to produce yarn, a necessary resource for making certain clothing items. The hardest part is behind us, you now simply have to build a sheepfold (“agriculture” tab) near your pastures and then assign a family there. The settlers will then take care of harvesting the wool. To then produce yarn from this same wool, you will then have to build a weaving workshop (“industry” tab) and once again assign a family there.
