Prison Architect 2: test of patience for fans

“Prison Architect 2” doesn't just offer a new look. The release policy also plagues many players. Because once again there was a shift. But what reasons are crucial?

After the first part was well received by console and PC gamers, many players are becoming increasingly impatient “Prison Architect 2”. It was last January officially announced.

However, the waiting time has suddenly increased. After the originally stated date could not be met, there was another postponement today.

Prison Architect 2 delayed by four months

Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Double Eleven announce that the 3D successor to the 2015 prison management simulator is now scheduled for September 3, 2024.

The launch of “Prison Architect 2” was originally planned for March, before it was postponed to May. As we now know, the second date is now no longer valid.

The two companies explain in their statement that the additional four months will be used to reduce the number of crashes, improve performance and refine existing functions.

“While we currently have certified builds on all platforms and would be ready for release, some issues have arisen regarding memory usage and minimum configurations that are resulting in more bugs,” a message about the postponement said.

This is commendable compared to many negative examples from the past. What is particularly noteworthy is the original launch of “Cyberpunk 2077”, which came onto the market in a catastrophic condition on the last-gen consoles. The previous test samples were PC versions, which showed significantly better quality.

In any case, Paradox Interactive and Double Eleven want to publish the best possible sequel that does justice to the demands of the “passionate community” and the legacy of the first part. You don't want to accept compromises.

Double Eleven will discuss more information about “Prison Architect 2” during a stream on April 25, 2024. The planned topics include improving the existing features.

It's not the only bad news of the day:

“Prison Architect 2” is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC costs 39.99 euros. Alternatively, players can pre-order the “Warden's Edition”. It costs ten euros more.
