Peripheral manufacturer provides “first-hand” information

Possible information has leaked out about the Switch 2, which this time should come from “first hand”. Among other things, there is talk of additional buttons.

Nintendo continues to wait for the announcement Switch2 wait, which fuels the rumor mill in the long term. The latest wave of alleged hardware details for the successor to the successful switch this time comes from Mobapada China-based peripheral manufacturer.

According to their own statement, they have received information about the Switch 2 “first hand” and would like to share it with customers and readers.

Backward compatibility and additional buttons

Part of the report is dedicated to the Joy-Cons and the Pro Controller. Already we reported a few days agothat the Pro Controller should be compatible with the Switch successor, while the Joy-Cons will have a magnetic attachment. Vandal reported on this last week and Mobapad also references it.

“The new version of the Joy-Cons has a larger volume, and the slide rail structure has been converted to magnetic suction,” the report says.

In addition, the peripheral manufacturer claims that the “Switch 2 will continue to support the existing Joy-Cons” – including ALPS dual-axis linear motors for HD Rumble. How the changes and compatibility can be combined is not mentioned in the report. Possibly what is meant is simply a function as a (limited) additional controller.

The Switch 2 should also have backwards compatibility with physical Switch cartridges and support Switch players' digital game collections. However, the second generation cartridges “may not be compatible with the first generation of the console”.

Switch 2 with additional Joy-Con buttons?

According to Mobapad, in addition to the familiar buttons on the side of the Joy-Con controller, there is a third button, which applies to both the left and right versions. There are no further explanations on this. There should also be an additional function button under the HOME button on the right Joy-Con.

The report also takes up older rumors: the display will be on 8 inch model upgraded, which supports 1080p resolution. The bottom of the Switch 2 still has a USB-C port for docking. And thanks to the higher performance of the hardware, a 4K resolution is possible in dock mode.

How credible is the information? That is difficult to assess. On the one hand, it is not unusual for peripheral manufacturers to receive hardware details in advance. It is not the rule that they report about it openly. In the end, the article could be a part of Mobapad's SEO strategy. A healthy skepticism is therefore advisable, especially since the provider uses older fan designs of the Switch 2 without comment.
