Meanwhile, a Nintendo Direct in June announced, which will provide information about the timetable for the second half of the year.

Nintendo Switch successor: Fans still have to be patient

It has now been over nine years since the Nintendo Switch was announced, as CEO Shuntaro Furukawa noted in a post on Nintendo's Twitter channel. It's quite possible that you want to fill the decade until there is solid information about the successor console. The announcement of the same should: within the current financial year take place, which is equivalent to: by March 2025.

Exciting on the one handbecause there is finally news from the Japanese company on this topic, sobering on the other sidebecause fans may have to wait a while to really find out more… and to be honest: the fact that official information about “Switch 2” will be available within the next eleven months should really come as a surprise to very few people.

Almost in the same breath, a Nintendo Direct was announced for June. There should be software updates there for the second half of 2024 give. The last big Switch-exclusive titles are with the remake of Paper Mario: The Legend of the Onentor and the HD remaster of Luigi's Mansion 2 announced for May and June. It will be interesting to see what the Japanese gaming giant has planned for the rest of the year.

Furukawa explicitly stated again in the post that there was no information about this Nintendo Direct Successor to the Nintendo Switch will give. So whether this one actually will be backwards compatible or the Hold Joycons magnetically on the consoleremains a persistent, although not implausible, rumor.
