Leaker fuels rumors about the development of the long-awaited successor

In the past there have been rumors that we can look forward to “Spyro 4” sooner or later. The rumor mill is receiving new fuel from the well-known leaker “Canadian Guy Eh”, who wants to know about the ongoing development of the successor.

Even though the community has repeatedly advocated for a return of the “Spyro” brand in recent years, the release of “Spyro: Reignited Trilogy” in 2018 has so far remained the case.

However, we are still waiting in vain for the official announcement of “Spyro 4”. The well-known leaker “Canadian Guy Eh” provides new hope. He has proven in the past that “Canadian Guy Eh” actually has insider knowledge with various correct leaks about “Crash Bandicoot” and “Spyro”.

As the leaker currently reports, “Spyro 4” is actually said to be in the works. Toys for Bob, the studio behind the “Spyro: Reignited Trilogy”, is the developer.

Leaker cites several sources

In his statements, “Canadian Guy Eh” refers to the statements of several developers who spoke at the Game Developers Conference 2024 about the ongoing work on “Spyro 4”, which is said to have started in January. Since “Canadian Guy Eh” is a reliable leaker and insider, it makes sense that he is right this time too.

Especially since those responsible at Toys for Bob themselves fueled the rumors about a possible fourth part of the “Spyro” series at the beginning of the year. In January, the studio released an artwork that featured Spyro and the words “You just have to believe in it” or “You just have to believe in it.”

The ongoing development of “Spyro 4” has not yet been officially confirmed. It therefore remains to be seen whether the possible successor will even appear for the PlayStation consoles.

Toys for Bob is independent again

As is well known, the rights to the “Spyro” trademark became the property of Microsoft with the takeover of Activision Blizzard. To make matters worse, Toys for Bob of the announcementto separate from Activision Blizzard, is said to have reached an agreement with Microsoft that will result in a new title.

Windows Central also reported that the unannounced Toys for Bob title will be based on the studio's previous projects. This could also point to a possible “Spyro 4,” which Toys for Bob is currently working on.

If the rumors about the start of development in January of this year turn out to be true, it will take a while before we are provided with concrete details.
