Huge data leak at CD Projekt

If Sony now starts to bring its games to the other console and CD Projekt has a big problem with hackers. Every week we put together a menu of the hottest rumors in the gaming industry and see: Has anything really been leaked? Should this be treated with caution? Or is it just a fake?

The Witcher 3 source code online

This week we start with one big blow to CD Projekt Redbecause the source code for The Witcher 3, Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077 has ended up publicly online. A few years ago, CD Projekt fell victim to a hacker attack. The group gained access to the developer's servers and was able to steal the source code for the three games and even parts of the in-house RED engine.

This is one in that respect catastrophe, because the source code allows you to see exactly how the games were developed. How the code is written and how systems work in the game – this can all be found out. These files are no longer accessible in the normal game files that you have on your PC or console.

However, you still need the source code a passwordto decrypt it. This was missing from the stolen data from CD Projekt. At least until now. For The Witcher 3, Gwent and the RED Engine, the passwords are now public and the first data miners have already been able to decrypt the source code. This is not the case for Cyberpunk so far. Apparently CD Projekt has asked behind the scenes not to release this key yet.

Whether the ransomware group will stick to this remains to be seen. The 2021 hacks really existed, CD Projekt admitted that at the time. Screenshots of developer consoles in the game also prove that the data miners have cracked the code. So this is one tangible leak.

Hack at Ready or Not developers

It's not just in Poland that there's trouble with hackers, they've also recently been hit in New Zealand Developers of Ready or Not. Void Interactive is the name of the development studio that has published Ready or Not, currently the best SWAT-style tactical shooter. As a special task force, you infiltrate various locations from the warehouse to the drug laboratory.

You overpower criminals, save civilians and of course plan your course of action. The realistic approach has the game one relatively stable player base bestowed. At the end of last year they finally came out of Early Access.

Now hackers in the indie studio probably saw an easy target and stole 4 TB of data. Below is that Game source code, but also the first developer builds for potentially upcoming console versions. The latter have not yet been confirmed by the developers.

Ready or Not is PvE, which still makes cheaters a plague, but at least not an unfair point against other players. Nevertheless, the publication of the source code could be a Gateway for possible cheats form. Void Interactive has the hacker attack upon request from insider-gaming.com confirmed. So here we have it too with a leak to do.

Watch Dogs at the end?

While the real hackers out there are once again extremely dangerous, it looks like Hackers in video games rather poor. Apparently the Watch Dogs series is over! Watch Dogs is Ubisoft's big attempt at their Open world formula in a GTA way to tip over. The biggest unique selling point is that you play a hacker manipulating the world around you. You read messages from NPCs, control traffic lights and so on.
