Gloomhaven studio announces game, puts it on hold and lays off employees

Studio Flaming Fowl went through a rollercoaster of announcements with its latest entry on Steam. Everything revolves around the co-op RPG “Ironmarked”.

The developers of Flaming Fowl were recently able to do so with their tactical role-playing game “Gloomhaven” convince. The title was released for PC in October 2021 and followed in September 2023 for the consoles PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

With its last announcement, the studio went through a rollercoaster of emotions. The co-op role-playing game “Ironmarked” was presented and a demo was published. However, there is also bad news from the developers.

Demo is intended to show what the studio has been working on

“Today we’re releasing a demo of Ironmarked, a new game we’ve been working on recently,” the developers recently wrote on Steam. “Unfortunately, due to the current lack of funding in the games industry, we will have to put production on hold and downsize the studio, parting ways with some great employees.”

Despite the difficult and sad time, the studio is proud of what they have created with “Ironmarked,” Flaming Fowl continued. It is also hoped that the release of the demo will help people who have to leave the company to find jobs. At least you can see the “outstanding work” that the developers have done, writes the studio.

Flaming Fowl hopes to be wishlisted on Steam

However, they have not yet given up hope for “Ironmarked”. The developers hope to be able to generate interest in the RPG with the demo that has now been published.

“We hope that with enough wishlist entries on Steam we will be able to find funding for Ironmarked in the future. But until then we will be working on a smaller game that we can finance entirely ourselves.”
