You won't really see Deadpool 3 this summer

If there's one film that's likely to make noise soon, it's good Deadpool & Wolverine. While we thought that Hugh Jackman was done with the role of the superhero with adamantium claws since the release of Logan in 2017, we have known for a while now that he will don the costume again for a duet with Deadpool. The latter will also be the first to use the character played by Ryan Reynolds since the purchase of 21st Century Fox by Disney and the integration of the X-Men into the MCU. But while fans were already imagining discovering this famous Deadpool 3 at the cinema this summer, director Shawn Levy wanted to make things clear:

Regarding the creation of the Deadpool & Wolverine story, I just felt privileged every day because we're talking about two huge movie stars in their most iconic roles. It gave me an opportunity. It's the third Deadpool movie, but it's not Deadpool 3. It's something else that is definitely Deadpool & Wolverine. And it doesn't try to copy anything from the first two films. They're great, but this one is a two-person adventure.

It is on the occasion of the CinemaCon from Las Vegas that the director Shawn Levy wanted to make this distinction with our colleagues at ScreenRant. You would have understood it, Deadpool & Wolverine will therefore not be Deadpool 3 strictly speaking, but rather a film designed as an original work putting the two main characters on the same level. Enough to reassure fans of Hugh Jackman who may have been afraid that his character would be overshadowed by that of Ryan Reynolds.

A few lucky people were treated to images

For the moment, apart from a few set photos and a teaser which didn't show much, the content of this new MCU film remains very mysterious. If we obviously know that it will feature Deadpool and Wolverine, the context of their meeting raises many questions for everyone who has seen Logan. Although we will surely have to wait for a real trailer to learn more, some CinemaCon viewers were treated to a few additional clips. Be careful, if you want to keep the most complete surprise, we advise you to end your reading here. Note that we will also cover major elements of the Logan movie and the Loki series in the following paragraph.

You're Expecting to See Deadpool 3 This Summer, But That Won't Really Be the Case

If we cannot show you the images that were revealed to the lucky people present at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the content of these was shared by a few colleagues. According to them, the film would also introduce Mr Paradox (played by Matthew Macfadyen), and the latter would go to meet Deadpool to ask him to save the Eternal Time Flow (Sacred Timeline in VO). This poses a few questions given that Loki seemed to have mastered the multiverse at the end of Loki Season 2, but it could well explain how Wolverine would return after his death in Logan. Also note that the images also contained a cameo from Thor, who was seen crying over Deadpool's body. We imagine that this scene will mainly be there for humorous purposes, but we will have to wait to see the film to find out more. As a reminder, Deadpool & Wolverine is expected in theaters on July 24.
