“Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” got off to a great start in the homeland of Square Enix and the PlayStation. The action RPG with Cloud Strife was the most popular video game among the Japanese in March!

A total of 310,596 units were sold. The role-playing game had the second best sales start that a PS5 game has ever had in Japan. Only “Final Fantasy 16” was even more successful with 336,000 sales.

The gap to second place is large: “Rebirth” sold around three times as many copies as “Princess Peach: Showtime”. The Switch title sold 105,000 copies.

The sales start in Japan was a success. What the global sales figure looks like is still unknown. In any case, industry analyst Daniel Ahmad thinks that Numbers are below expectations.

Rise of the Ronin also does well

Third place goes to “Rise of the Ronin,” another PS5 exclusive. 85,000 Japanese struck. “Dragon's Dogma 2” was also relatively well received. Capcom has recorded around 78,000 sales.

If we add up the sales of the Switch and PS5 versions, Unicorn Overload was the second best-selling game in March. The tactical RPG found a total of 111,000 buyers.

The remaining charts are made up of well-known names. Here is an overview of the top 10:
